Moisturize. This is one of the most vital external factors to maintain a healthy balanced skin. This is applicable to all skin types and conditions. The skin requires nourishment to function. Therefore, the more you moisturize the healthier the skin will be. Thus improving both internal functions and external appearance.
Oil is your friend. There is a wide misconception regarding the need to dry out an oily or combination skin type, or the need to excessively scrub and cleanse an acne skin condition. This is not only incorrect but can also contribute to the problem behind the acne and excessive sebum production. If the natural state of your skin is oily then trying to remove any oil (sebum) from it only makes your skin produce more of it to try and balance itself. Therefore, the more you feed your skin with good quality oil-based skin care products, the less sebum your skin will need to produce in order to be balanced and healthy.
Hydration - Drink Water!!! Hydration is not an external application but is related to water intake of the body. Ensuring your daily water intake is no less than an average of 3 liters per day is essential to a well hydrated skin. This, with a proper skin care routine, will improve the skins overall condition and appearance.
Nutrition: Your daily food intake plays a significant role in your skin’s overall appearance, function and health. Highly processed foods and high sugar diets are detrimental to the skins function. We recommend balance in all things. Of course indulging in a delicious baked good, or some of your favorite candy every now and then, will not affect your skin. Just be sure to have a high intake of fruits and vegetables including ones with high vitamin A, E, and B content as well as proteins that have omega oils and good fats. These are your skin's best friend.
Protection: External elements such as harmful UV rays from the sun, extreme cold and heat are damaging to the skin. It’s important to always guard your skin from these elements, wearing sunscreen daily, trying to avoid extreme cold or heat for extended periods of time. Exposure to these elements over time damages the skins appearance and can lead to early aging, as well as certain skin diseases and possible cancer.
